Next Day – Or Is It This Day Yesterday

Empty.

Woman.
Let me down softly.
Softly let me down.
While I lie there I can rest a bit.
Maybe cast a glance to heaven then
Before the flood gates’ portals open wide.

Why is it I call for her and she does not come?
Why is it I hold out my hand
And there’s only wind that holds it there
And my fingertips they wish to touch the stars
Even as they race away.

I want to believe in love again
Take away the shame
Take away forgotten names
That cling to a heart remain
Swelling tears in my eyes sting from blame.

Full.

I take a deep breath
Chuckle to myself
Wrong horizon looking inside
You silly man
Selfish place to be.

Roll over up on elbow
Raise your body up
Stand
Eyes level
Breath once more.

It’s over.

Move your ass on .
