Songs to Love

Oh lies of equality and sex monopolizing gender
Take me on
I bring songs to love
Ambiguity, complementarity, duality, union
Songs to love I bring.

I know a poem is supposed to be beautiful,
While lies are not,
So to write of beautiful things like
The ambiguity of love
The complementarity of woman and man
The duality of two that can only manifest as one
The union that is never entente and always at play,
I weep undermined by the lies of equality and sex
As though the cognitive dissonance of false truths
As though gender is a pre-determinant
Are how we ought and only live
And there is no beauty in them.

My self is hijacked by economics
I battle for pay equity and pitch my worth identity by income
My power is hijacked by politics
I battle for positioning in hierarchy and establish antagonism by debating sides
My action is hijacked by sex
I battle for ownership of you, our progeny, our identity in the boxing ring of biological determinism.

Plastic words like production and reproduction, Marxist cants
The regime of economic scarcity and jobs and careers, sanctimonious obfuscation of capitalists
Now sadly embedded as acrolect
Our minds and deeds colonialized by that which caused our demise.

So I take the dangerous vernacular path
A path next to lost in the horrifying forest of ubiquitous universality
Of academia, digital interface, and products sold to us….

Wherein:

I place before my eyes two hands, one to this side and the other beside
Neither left nor right
But complementarity...

I allow patience to determine purpose of thought and action
Neither wrong nor right in pursuit of truth between two persons
To allow freedom and possibility that can only arise from ambiguity…

Wherein we discriminate by
Our place
Our time
Our tools
Our tasks
Our speech
Our gestures
By our us, we, you and me
Creating from within…

Wherein I seek the duality of union too obvious to be named
Hand in hand
Only you and I
With child and parent and friends…

Through unwritten harmony
Of ambiguity and complementarity...

Singing songs of welcome...

Singing songs of welcome...

Singing songs of welcome...

To love.
