Winter Is Warm
January 26, 2012
jp melville

you here beside me
in thought and things
slippers on the floor, one flipped on its side
box of tissues on your dresser, beside a silver case
four pillows on the bed, two more than mine
picture of venus on the wall, hibiscus plant resting
cool air of the room
outside snow, silently blanketing earth

one day i imagine
you will come home
in a future seeming only
impossibly far away

here
winter was warm
wood fire
voices of children
a cat curled with his tail to his nose

here
winter was warm
with you beside me
around me
in thought and things

here
with you beside me
in thought and in things
winter is warm

here
come to me
winter is warm
